Description
Doctor on Call
Doctor on call is an essential service. Many sick people make use of this service. Some of the common cases when a doctor on call service is initiated is for children, old people and pregnant ladies. In this service, the doctors provide clinical support to the patients by visiting their homes and providing them with the necessary advice and required treatment procedure. If it is a first visit by the doctor, they will ask for the necessary details to know more about the case and patient history .They then suggest pathological or clinical tests if required. If it is a follow-up visit, it will include checking on the progress of the patient and whether the guidance he had given has been followed by both the patient and the caretaker.
What Do They Do?
As with any medical cases, the doctors on call have important functions to perform. They will get to know the patient history and prevailing condition to come to a diagnosis and plan out the detailed treatment schedule.
They will also monitor what is the present clinical status including vital signs.
They will check for any complications in the patient.
They will run pathological tests or clinical tests to confirm the diagnosis.
They will give details about the follow up visits.
They will also give instructions to the caretaker of the patient on how to properly care for the patient. Also, the doctor will instruct the caretaker on what stats need to be collected till his or her next visit.
The Advantages of Doctor on Call
When a patient takes treatment via Doctor on Call, he or she has a number of advantages. Few of them are mentioned below-
There is a decreased number of visits to the hospital or the emergency room. It becomes easier on the patient and it also helps to minimize the burden of the caretaker.
The cost of treatment becomes relatively low in most cases By getting treated at home, the patient is less stressed in most of the cases than when they are treated in the hospital. They have a calm feeling at home.
Even family members have less stress when the patient is being treated at home as they can be around the patient and not wait for visiting hours.
In many cases it has been observed when a patient is treated at home, they get well sooner as compared to be treated in a hospital There is a sense of relief to both the patient and the caretaker/relatives as they are in constant touch with each other in the home.
The required facilities in terms of equipment and staff (nurse) are also provided in the Doctor on Call facility as and when required. Hence, all protocols are adhered to by the staff. There is no need to worry about anything as everything is being monitored properly.
